 Prison Reform Trust (UK)
The Criminal Justice and Courts Bill

The PRT offers a paper responding to the proposed bill which is now passed the second reading.  PRT has concerns around the potential for the bill to increase costs and the number of those imprisoned.  Many provisions also transfer the authority for decision making to the Secretary of State limiting the discretion of the local managers.   http://www.prisonreformtrust.org.uk/Portals/0/Documents/CJJ%20Bill/PRT%20Briefing%20CJ&J%20Bill%20HoC%202nd%20Reading.pdf?dm_i=47L,26BAV,6JSCMH,7V6XW,1  PDF of the Bill itself:  http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/bills/cbill/2013-2014/0169/cbill_2013-20140169_en_1.htm?dm_i=47L,26BAV,6JSCMH,7XYV1,1

HSJ (UK) – Dr Mike Roddis
Can Mandela’s model for restorative justice work in healthcare?

Roddis is a former National Health Services medical director who specializes in professional development issues.  After a medical incident, he wants to have a ‘restorative review’ or a facilitated review that looks to healing both the emotional harm and the doctor’s guilt relating to the incident.  He thinks the restorative review may be helpful but not for everyone.  http://m.hsj.co.uk/5067903.article
